British actress Emilia Clarke, revealed by the series game of Thrones, remembers the rupture of his two aneurysms that occurred during the filming of the successful series. The 37-year-old artist spoke to the Big Issue newspaper to raise awareness about the difficulties of returning to work, speaking about his own experience and his fears that this health problem could cost him his role:
“A stroke alters the perception you have of yourself in a very significant way, and the insecurities you feel when entering the job market multiply by four overnight,” he explains.
“The biggest fear we all had was, ‘Oh my God, are they going to fire me?’ Are they going to fire me because they think I can’t do my job?
Two accidents in two years
Emilia Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen, one of the main characters of game of Thrones, between 2011 and 2019. His first aneurysm rupture occurred in 2011, between filming the first two seasons. He was then 24 years old. The second arrived two years later.
Together with her mother, she founded SameYou in 2019, a charity that helps people with strokes. Her work earned them the title of Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), awarded by Prince William last February.
“Having a chronic illness that reduces your self-confidence to do what you believe is your reason for being is so degrading that you feel very alone,” he continues. “That’s what we’re trying to fight.”
Since the end of the successful series, Emilia Clarke has appeared in films in Last Christmas AND Solo: A Star Wars Story. He will soon appear in biographical films. McCarthy AND An ideal wife.
