Attention! The following contains spoilers for the Star Trek: Prodigy episode “Asylum”. Read at your own risk!
Star Trek: Prodigy is back for the second half of season one, and what an episode that was! To give and the Protostar The crew got their first glimpse of Starfleet, and longtime fans have enjoyed their first new one Chakotay Yes Janeway scene for decades. The two Traveler the characters shared a short scene Vice Admiral JanewayThe hologram replay, so what are the prospects for the characters in the future? Gossipify has answers thanks to the actress Kate Mugrew Yes prodigy showrunner Kevin Yes Dan Hageman.
To recap the scene in question, Vice Admiral Janeway (alias the real Janeway seen in episode 10 ) played the last conversation he had with Captain Chakotay before taking the Protostar return to the Delta Quadrant. Janeway told Chakotay that she was surprised that she was returning to this section of space and that her hologram that had been added to the ship was the only way for her to return. Janeway told Chakotay to be careful and he assured her that if she got into trouble, she would be the first person she would call. However, as Janeway revealed, Chakotay never called.
Kate Mulgrew has been answering questions about Janeway and Chakotay for decades Travelerends, so it’s a good read of how fans feel and what they expect from Janeway and her co-star. Roberto Beltranthe character of Ho asked Mulgrew if fans would be happy with what happened. Star Trek: Prodigy with Janeway and Chakotay, and the actress gave a very encouraging answer:
They will be very happy. First of all, qualitatively, they couldn’t be happier. The quality of this thing is very high. Kevin and Dan Hageman took care of it. I think they will be very happy with what happens between Vice Admiral Janeway and Chakotay… As you well know, this is a very important relationship for Janeway. So when you feel like you’ve lost someone like that, let alone Chakotay, who was your second-in-command, you have an investment of great personal importance. We will see him really shine in these episodes and how he feels when he feels lost. How do you feel when you think you have won and how do you feel when you feel that everything can be gone in an instant.
I can already hear the wearers of Janeway and Chakotay scream in excitement and renew their Subscriptions of primary importance and it is completely understandable. Star Trek: Traveler never pulled the trigger on what many viewers considered an obvious relationship, but sadly the romance never came together on its return journey across the Delta Quadrant. Fans wanted to close, and since it wasn’t there never one Traveler movie they never had it. (Kate Mulgrew he likes the idea of a movie happening despite.)
The good news is that Kevin and Dan Hageman confirmed to Gossipify that we will see something fixed with Janeway and Chakotay in Star Trek: Prodigy. The unexceptional sequel comes from Dan Hageman, who said it will take some time for this Janeway and Chakotay arc to unfold:
I mean, you could say it’s not going to work out in season one.
Hey, you have to appreciate honesty! Dan Hageman just dropped a subtle note at Star Trek: Prodigy fans who want more, slow down a bit, as this Janeway and Chakotay saga will take some time to unfold.
Kevin Hageman quickly followed up on the comment with a little more behind-the-scenes of Janeway and Chakotay’s encounter and a positive lead to stretch the story between two seasons. After all, this technically means two seasons of Janeway and Chakotay’s story, and a lot more time to do justice to a story that Traveler never played. He said:
The good thing is that it continues into season 2! And we promise we will deliver the goods. Not only will we annoy people and frustrate them. That would be terrible of us, wouldn’t it? But I think we will embrace what the next chapter will be between these two characters. Many fans are divided on what they want to see happen with Janeway and Chakotay. I feel like we’ve been discussing it a lot in the writers’ room. We talked to Kate and Robert about it, and I feel like we have arrived at a wonderful place that we are really excited to share. But know this is a season 1 and 2 arc with these two.
Are you sure, Star Trek: Traveler fans: the answers will come (but not in others Traveler fan wish list items like Harry Kim’s Arc of Redemption ). That said, prodigy it’s not strictly about Janeway and Chakotay, and there are still many stories to be told about what’s happening to the young crew and whether they will ever make it to Starfleet with The Diviner’s weapon built into the Protostar. Fans of the franchise should have fun beyond just following. Traveler weft threads.
