We had so many other stories to tell. … I felt like we had a lot more to say with these characters and a lot more to do, and it also felt like a show that had endless possibilities, where you learn and see that things happen at the same time medically. .
Grey’s Anatomy he certainly drew inspiration from real-world events to fuel his stories, including The approach of the pandemic season 17 and the revocation by the Supreme Court of roe deer v. Wade in the current season . private practice apparently it had the same deep well to draw from, as Shonda Rhimes pointed out.

The character didn’t reveal much about his life in Los Angeles, but he did tell his former sister-in-law Amelia Shepherd (who starred in private practice before becoming a Grey regular) who went through a dark period during the pandemic, to the point where she said she “really hates” her husband Jake (played in the spin-off by Benjamin Bratt) and their son Henry. I certainly wouldn’t mind what the rest of the cast and characters have been up to since the show ended in 2013.
Characters from the Los Angeles-based spinoff have been played by big hitters including Audra McDonald, Taye Diggs, Paul Adelstein, KaDee Strickland, Chris Lowell, and others. Shonda Rhimes didn’t seem like there were actually plans to revive the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, but anything seems possible these days.
