You will never make everyone happy, and that is certainly true the Lord of the Rings Fans. Amazon’s multimillion-dollar TV episode in JRR Tolkien’s iconic franchise was created last weekend and the reception of the series is … complicated. As for the reviews, power rings receives praise. However, a number of fans criticized the series and, as a result, the company behind the series chose to take action.
The blitz review was directed to the first two episodes of the series, released simultaneously last Friday. For this Amazon has chosen to completely disable the reviews of the show on Prime Video, as reported by Forbes. A similar situation occurs on the popular media review aggregation site, Rotten Tomatoes.. According to the site, 84% of the reviews gave it LOTR: Rings of Power a positive opinion, a favorable statistic, which certifies the series as “fresh” according to the metric system of the site. However, the fan rating is currently at 39%, indicating that the majority of viewer reviews are extremely negative.
One wonders where this dissonance comes from. Well, there seem to be a number of reasons why some LOTR fans are not happy power rings. Some critics have claimed that the series was unfaithful to the OG series, especially with regard to the representation of some characters (some of whom are portrayed as black people). TROOPS in fact, it features a much more diverse cast than previous adaptations, with the female characters also enjoying a lot more action and focus. Some fans seem to believe this is different from how the characters are written in JRR Tolkien’s original work.
That said, it’s not all bad receptions power rings it comes from such places of malice. Some believe Peter Jackson had a better view of the source material and fans have so much love for the original trilogy that nothing could match it. (Jackson said he wasn’t involved in the show, saying he was a “ghost” from Amazon.) Some also think the time frame in which the show is set is not as compelling as others, revered in the books. For context, the series is set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit.
Whatever the reason fans don’t like the series, it’s safe to assume that the streaming service won’t allow reviews anytime soon. The LOTR The series was a major budget investment for Amazon and the powers that be looking pretty happy. Company founder Jeff Bezos, who provided notes on the show, also seems happy with how things turned out. With that, hopefully he and the creative team will continue to carry the show forward in a positive way as they plan for its future.
The first two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The rings of power are now available exclusively to Amazon Prime subscribers. The new episodes will air on Friday as part of the 2022 television schedule.
