It’s only natural that long-form TV shows evolve over time. When it comes to game shows, some change their sets or sometimes even the rules of the competition change. The long-lived game show Wheel of fortune It has been in business since the mid 1970s and has undergone some changes over time. Although the iconic puzzle board used by Vanna White has remained pretty much the same over the years, it appears that the Wow staple gets an update (and hopefully doesn’t bother Pat Sajak too much).
next season of Wheel of fortune it will look a little different because the puzzle board will be a full LED display. a writer for the blog buzzer, recently visited the Sony Pictures studio in Los Angeles, where the puzzle board was apparently nowhere to be found. Subsequent visitors, however, claimed to have seen the aforementioned LED display, and public reports later indicated that Pat Sajak and Vanna White were discussing the Lidar (light sensing and sensing) technology used for it.
It’s a major change, to say the least, especially considering how iconic the puzzle board is. Still, the new technology looks pretty impressive.
According to Buzzer Blog, Lidar technology can track where Vanna White presses the screen, which likely makes letter reveal more efficient. You’d think the producers made the decision to change things to suit the times and allow the game to run smoothly. This should definitely amp things up a bit, although it probably won’t help. Wheel of fortune competitors who spoil easy puzzles. It should be interesting to see how the LED map works and if it actually adds anything interesting to the game.
The reactions from fans to the new board will be very interesting. When season 39 premiered last year, some people weren’t happy to hear new music on the long-running TV show. So you can bet they’ll have some solid ideas on the board when Season 40 premieres.
Wheel of fortune It has certainly cemented its place in pop culture over the course of its decade, as have those involved in the show. Pat Sajak celebrated his 40th birthday last year and on top of that, Sajak hit another crazy milestone earlier this year. I’m sure he and Vanna White will have no problem adapting to the new board and I hope fans don’t have much to say about it when they tune in.
