Wrestling biographies aren’t exactly the norm in Hollywood right now, but it looks like it’s changing, with at least two high-profile feature films focusing on the big names in the professional wrestling world. There’s Chris Hemsworth’s Hulk Hogan movie, in which he made a special effort polishing the arm muscles and there is the drama of Zac Efron & Co. which he will focus on legendary family of Von Erich athletes . Perhaps unsurprisingly, the high school musical The vet has been busy cranking up the volume, and his physique has even impressed the same WWE Hall of Famer he plays in the film, Kevin Von Erich.
the iron claw It will tell the inspiring and tragic story of the Von Erich clan’s rise in the world of sports entertainment and the huge impact it has had on professional wrestling in everything from regional teams to big brands like WWE (later WWF). Although Kevin Von Erich has been mostly absent from this world for years, barring occasional appearances and induction into the Family Hall of Fame, he has shared some positive thoughts with TMZ on Efron’s animated look, as well as how he thinks the project will be challenging for the cast, saying:
You know, it’s going to be hard work, I think. That’s a lot of information and a lot of time, and they have a lot of hard work ahead of them. But I saw a photo of the boy; he looked great, i think i never looked better. So I think they’re going to be great.
There are arguably few better accolades that Zac Efron could have gotten from Von Erich, whose career in the ring spanned around 30 years as far as some subsequent appearances are concerned. And true to his point, Kevin wasn’t generally known for being as hyper-muscular as a gifted technical fighter, though he was obviously still fit as a violin. So, in that sense, Zac Efron looks like the Hollywood version of the legend, and I’m even more interested in seeing the film version of Kerry Von Erich, with the bear The cast of Jeremy Allen White for this role.
Kevin Von Erich talked about how he’s never been a bodybuilder for fun, but more focused on keeping fit in general because it makes life easier. Especially for athletes whose bodies have been bruised and mistreated over time. Hopefully, the extra muscles will help Efron avoid injuries while filming.
When asked if he had talked to Efron about the role, Von Erich said it hadn’t happened so far. In his words:
No I did not. But my girls love him, so they think he’s the right person to do it. But I do not know. I don’t even watch movies these days, really.
It looks like Hall of Famer should definitely have its daughters Kristen and Jillian if that conversation with Efron ever happens, or Von Erich might face some long-term grudges along the way.
Speaking of the younger generation, the legendary sons, who fight like Ross and Marshall Von Erich, also shared their thoughts on Instagram, sharing a photo of his father along with Efron’s backstage photo, along with the message:
I’m excited about this new project in our family and it really looks like @zacefron is taking this role seriously. I am so excited to see #TheIronClaw
