Candles, flowers, photos… This Sunday, October 20, hundreds of Liam Payne fans gathered in the Tuileries Garden in Paris to pay a last tribute to the artist and former member of One Direction, who died on October 16 after falling from The balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires.
Many of them, excited, came to leave gifts in front of a black and white photograph of the 31-year-old singer placed against a parapet. The fans also sang One Direction songs together, accompanied by a guitarist present at the scene.
“It’s a part of my innocence that went with him (Liam),” Romane, 23, told AFP through tears. “With the group he brought me a lot of joy, laughter (…) It was like an air bubble that was not reality.”
Tributes around the world
This Sunday, numerous tributes to Liam Payne were also organized in various cities around the world such as New York or Stockholm but also in the United Kingdom, where the artist was originally from.
Liam Payne died on October 16 at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a context of “alcohol and narcotics consumption”, according to the first results of the investigation.
His death sparked an avalanche of tributes in the music world, starting with his four friends and former members of One Direction: Niall, Harry, Zayn and Louis, who published a joint declaration in which they indicate that they are “completely devastated” by the tragic death of their former colleague.
Simon Cowellcreator of the British show X Factor that allowed One Direction to make their musical debut in 2010, also said he was “devastated” and “very saddened” by this loss.
