“Blade”: the Marvel movie about vampire hunters postponed indefinitely

The new film about this vampire-hunting superhero has suffered another delay in its production.

The vampire hunter superhero will have to wait longer than expected. Marvel Studios reveals this Wednesday, November 23, that the reboot of Bladewith Mahershala Ali in the lead role, will ultimately not be released in November 2025 as previously announced. A new date has not yet been announced.

One more postponement for the project, which has been accumulating since it was announced in 2019. The global pandemic, then the strike of Hollywood screenwriters and actors, delayed the process. Additionally, two directors left the project: Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange.

“The ‘Blade’ movie you need”

According to Deadline, which reports the information, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige wants to put together the best possible scenario before launching production.

“The most important thing for us is not to rush it, to make sure we make the right ‘Blade’ movie,” he said in an interview in July.

A first trilogy 25 years ago

As Variety points out, the postponement of Blade It’s no surprise. Bob Iger, CEO of Disney (owner of Marvel Studios) announced last May that the comics giant would only release “three movies at most a year.” However, of the four Marvel movies announced for 2025, Blade He was the only one who had not started filming; the others were Captain America: Brave New World, Good heavens AND The fantastic four.

Appeared in comics in the 1970s, Blade was successfully adapted to film in 1998 by Stephen Norrington with Wesley Snipes in the lead role. The feature film gave rise to two sequels, Blade 2 and Blade: Trinity. Wesley Snipes returned to the character this summer with a surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.
