On December 5, 1933, Hergé signed a very personal dedication to one of his friends and mentors, Charles Helsen, scout chaplain at the Saint-Boniface Institute in Brussels, where he spent five years of his studies.

“To Father Helsen, in memory of the good years spent under his direction, discovering adventure, in the forest of Soignes… the Alps and the Pyrenees… Furthermore, Tintin is nothing more than “another myself who “I would have followed this path”, to the fullest…”, writes the author.

A turnover of 934,000 euros

This rarity belonged to Felipe Ortiz-Patiño, a discreet collector from a dynasty born of his Bolivian great-grandfather Simón Iturri Patiño, who made his fortune by discovering an immense deposit of tin in 1900.

Felipe Ortiz-Patiño separated from this collection, started about thirty years ago, to dedicate himself to other interests such as automobiles.

Of the 75 lots, 48 ​​were awarded, for a total amount of more than 934,000 euros, Tajan said in a statement.

A copy in perfect condition of the first edition of Tintin in the Congo of 1931, among the few thousand printed at the time, it sold for 101,944 euros. It is signed “Tintin” by Hergé and “Milou” by his fiancee Germaine.

One of 500 “main draw” albums (for pre-order buyers) from Tintin in the country of the Soviets In 1930 it was sold for 63,715 euros.

Thanks to its exceptional state of freshness for the original editions, The crab with the golden claws (1942) and The broken ear (1937) were sold for 45,874.80 euros and 44,600.50 euros respectively.

Tintin is the comic book hero that most scares the auction house counters, thanks to his worldwide notoriety.

The album is the design of a cover proposal for the blue lotus in 1936, never used and sold in 2021 for 3,175 million euros.

Tajan will put up for sale on November 6 an original plate from The mysterious star in black and white, dating from 1941. The estimate is 400,000 to 500,000 euros.
