Organizers of next summer’s tour by British group Oasis, whose reform has caused a stir, will cancel tickets purchased on unofficial resale sites, potentially affecting thousands of fans, they said Monday.
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announced at the end of August that they would reform their legendary group for a tour, fifteen years after their devastating split.
Fans flocked on August 31 to buy tickets for the concerts, but this search turned into chaos, with endless waiting lists and failures on official sales sites, particularly Ticketmaster, a ticket sales giant. tickets.
Thousands of banknotes affected
Fans were warned that tickets purchased from unofficial resale sites could be cancelled. According to the organizers, 4% of the entries, or thousands of entries, ended up on these sites.
“The ticketing agencies Ticketmaster and See Tickets will begin in the coming weeks to cancel tickets that do not meet the general sales conditions established for the tour,” a spokesperson for the organizers said on Monday. “The review of ticket sales is underway,” he said.
“The canceled tickets will be put back on sale in due course through the official Ticketmaster agency and more information will be communicated in this regard shortly,” he added.
“All parties involved in the tour continue to urge fans not to purchase tickets from unauthorized sites, as some of them may be fraudulent and others subject to cancellation,” this portal warned.
Open investigation
As of August 31, tickets had fetched several hundred euros, even thousands of euros, on unofficial resale sites.
In addition, the British competition authority has opened an investigation against Ticketmaster, for having practiced “dynamic pricing”, which caused the price of tickets to skyrocket far beyond the prices initially shown.
The group, founded in 1991, will play next summer in Manchester, their hometown, as well as Cardiff, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. They will then tour the United States, Canada and Australia.
