“At the will of the people!” The legendary musical Les Miserables is back in Paris. The musical show, an adaptation of Victor Hugo’s masterpiece with music by Claude-Michel Schnöberg and an undisputed global success with 130 million viewers in 53 countries, takes place at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
A new production, in French, by Ladislas Chollat, who wants a staging accessible to everyone. “I was interested in the author, the writer, the ink, his way of writing, the energy he had to put into that ink,” explains the director, to whom “we particularly owe the musical shows.” Oliver Giro, Resist or, more recently, Molière with Paloma Attia.

“It’s very black. The decoration is very black, very dark. And the color, the warmth, is provided by the beings,” he adds.

Because these beings, in Les MiserablesThey are not always defined by their light. Proof of this are the odious Thénardiers, played in Châtelet by Christine Bonnard and David Alexis.
