You have never really left the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Example: Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow make the ultimate sacrifice in ending of the Avengers, then finally gets his own solo film (a prequel) months later. This can be confusing when trying to view the file Marvel movies in order . But from a narrative standpoint, these references and homages to classic MCU characters could live on in future movies and TV shows. Just because a character is “off the board” for the writers doesn’t mean they can’t find other ways to get him back.
Here is a recent example. There is a tribute to Black Widow found in the season finale of Disney + show she-hulk. But that might not be obvious if you hadn’t thought about the hero’s original appearance as a SHIELD Agent in iron man 2. During a recent press day around the final of she-hulkWe spoke to director Kat Coiro, who remembers working on a Widow tribute during a major scene in the series.
The answer will reveal some She-Hulk spoilers, so stop reading now if you’ve made it this far and still don’t want to know what happens in the series finale.

A little easter egg that I’m really proud of and someone just reminded me of is when we walk in, just before (KEVIN’s) inner sanctuary there is this brawl in the hallway with the security guards. I developed it to be a tribute to Black Widow. If you look at it, many plans are really similar. This is one of the action sequences of our first great female action heroine, so I wanted to include it.
The scene Kat Coiro is referring to occurs towards the end of iron man 2where Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) find a corridor full of guards at the HAMMER industries. While Happy is trapped with a guard, Widow takes out an entire team, using a fighting technique for which Johansson has a funny nickname . It seems so:
There are so many meta references in she-hulk, a comedy sitcom in which our main character (played by Tatiana Maslany) broke the fourth wall to speak directly to the audience and asked Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) to do the “Walk of Shame” after a meeting. we do not know yet Yes she-hulk will have a second season , but seeing how the creative team behind the scenes reconfigured their typical MCU series, we can only imagine all the places the next story might go. I mean, the Hulk did it a great revelation ultimately, and this probably needs to be explored further, right?
