Warren Beatty, the legendary actor from Bonnie and Clyde and the Oscar-winning director of Redswas accused this week of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 1973, when she was between 14 and 15 years old, reports the New York Times.
According to the complaint, filed last Monday before the Los Angeles Superior Court, the actor, who was 35 years old at the time of the events, would have used his status as a star to “seduce, manipulate, exploit and coerce.” [une mineure] to sexual intercourse.”
A spokesman for the 85-year-old comedian would not comment on the allegation. The plaintiff, Kristina Charlotte Hirsch, claims the assault occurred a few months after she met Warren Beatty on a Los Angeles movie set.
Warren Beatty reportedly complimented her on her physical appearance before giving her his phone number. He would then have invited her to her hotel room. He also would have offered to help her with her homework and would have invited her for a ride in the car.
Not explicitly cited in the complaint
Kristina Charlotte Hirsch details in her complaint their interactions, which include “fellatio, simulated sexual acts and sexual relations under duress”. She still claims to suffer “emotional, physical and psychological distress” forty years after the events, and is suing for damages.
Although Warren Beatty is not explicitly cited in the file, it presents the defendant as an actor nominated for an Oscar for his role as Clyde in Bonnie and Clyde – the movie that made Warren Beatty a star in 1968.
Younger brother of actress Shirley McLaine, Warren Beatty was one of the leading figures in Hollywood from the 1960s to the 1980s. He is also known for his many female conquests: his biographer Peter Biskind estimated in 2010 that the actor had had sexual relations with nearly 12,775 women in his lifetime
