There were thousands, Friday in Atlanta, gathered for Takeoff’s funeral, gunned down on November 1. Among the family members, Drake and Justin Bieber paid a vibrant tribute to the 28-year-old rapper, member of the trio Migos.
Justin Bieber performed a song from his repertoire, titled Ghost, whose lyrics evoke the loss of a loved one. “Because the love you left behind is all I have,” the lyrics say.
“I want you to know that if I can’t be around you, I’ll settle for your ghost. I miss you more than anything, and if you can’t be by my side, your memory is ecstasy.

Drake, who has also collaborated with the band, addressed the audience, reminiscing about his memories of touring with Migos and what he remembers about Takeoff’s personality.
“Every time he took off his sunglasses, there was something that I loved, no matter what was going on around us, he would always squint, but it was like he was squinting. He was wide open.”
The other two members of the group, his uncle Quavo, who was with him in Houston when he was shot, and his cousin Offset, also evoked the memory of the young musician.
“He changed music culture forever,” Offset launched, very emotionally, to applause from the crowd, according to a video released by the LA Times.
His date, rapper Cardi B., accompanied him. The celebrations took place in Farm Arena in Atlanta, hometown of Takeoff. A place that can hold up to 20,000 people. Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot and killed on November 1 at the age of 28 in the early hours of the day outside 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, Texas. According to bbc newsthe shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. local time on a balcony outside the bowling alley, where a private party of 40 to 50 people was taking place.
British media reports that Takeoff was playing dice there with Quavo, another Migos member. If a police investigation is still underway to determine the circumstances of his death, the rapper’s record company, Quality Control Music, declared the day after the tragedy that the artist had died from “a stray bullet.”
