Kate Winslet donates 19,000 euros to the mother of a disabled girl to pay her electricity bill

The British actress has donated €19,000 to a Scottish mother whose severely disabled 12-year-old daughter is dependent on an appliance. Faced with the rising cost of energy, she had released a kitty online.

Kate Winslet has donated 17,000 pounds (about 19,000 euros) to the GoFundMe kitty of Carolynne Hunter, whose daughter Freya, who has cerebral palsy, needs a ventilator 24 hours a day. Due to rising energy costs, this Scottish mum has seen her bill explode in recent months.

“When I heard about the money I cried, I thought it wasn’t even real. I always wonder, is it real?” Carolynne Hunter told BBC Scotland.

She had released a kitten on GoFundMe three days ago, asking for help.

fuel poverty

“Although I have been publicly campaigning for 7 months about the impact of rising energy prices on my 12-year-old daughter Freya, who has complex health needs and requires high-level nursing and home equipment, governments from the UK and Scotland have ignored my calls for proper support to be put in place to prevent a health crisis for my family,” she wrote on GoFundMe.

Plunged into great fuel poverty, this family – Freya is the youngest of Carolynne Hunter’s four children – was heating up to a minimum.

“We’re still freezing cold and we don’t even have sub-zero temperatures,” he told BBC Scotland. “I urge the staff to only turn on the heating if necessary.”

“I’m going to get help, but what about other people? I wanted the government to pay for it and do the right thing, it shouldn’t be up to a celebrity to intervene,” he said. .
