Frederik de Nassau, a Petit-Cousin of the Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, died on March 1 in Paris, at the age of 22, carried by the rare genetic disease he suffered. His father, Prince Robert of Luxembourg, announced it in a statement published on the site of the foundation that the young man had launched in 2022.
“It is the heavy heart that my wife and I want to inform him about the death of our son, the founder of Polg Foundation and his creative director, Frederik,” he wrote.
“On February 28, our dear son called us in his room so that we were talking to him for the last time. Frederik found the strength and courage to say goodbye to each of us, one after another: his brother Alexandre, his sister Charlotte, me, his three cousins Charly, Louis and Donall, his brother -in -law and the man of his sister -in -law;
“He had already trusted everything he had in his heart to his extraordinary mother, who had not left him for 15 years.”
A DISEASE WITHOUT remedy
Frederik de Nassau suffered a mitochondrial disease, diagnosed at the age of 14. It deprives energy cells, causing progressive dysfunctions of the organs, according to the description of the site of their base. According to CNN, it is a difficult disease to diagnose and there is no treatment or remedy.
“We could compare this to have a defective battery that is never completely recharged, it is in a state of perpetual exhaustion and ends up,” his father wrote in his press release.
Prince Robert is Henri’s cousin Germain, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. With his wife Julie, they had three children: Princess Charlotte (29), Prince Alexandre (27) and Prince Frederik.
