The message is signed W & C, for William and Kate. On the occasion of his 14th anniversary of weddings, the Prince and the Princess of Wales, on an official visit to the island of Mull, out of Scotland, published an unprecedented photo on Tuesday.
We see the couple, intertwined, in front of a lake and hills in the background. If this photo shows Kate and William from afar, it is one of the most intimate and tender of the couple.
The Prince and the Princess of Wales publish every year, on this date, a photo of them to celebrate his wedding anniversary. Last year, when the princess retired from public life to treat cancer, they had used a very official, black and white photo, dating from their marriage.
“It is wonderful to be back on the island of Mull,” they write in the photo legend. Kate and William met in Scotland at the University of St Andrews. It was in 2001. They had stayed on the island of Mull for the first time together, in 2005, after their exams in St Andrews, as the Daily Mail recalled. They had rented a cabin with a group of friends.
Ten years to wait
But if Kate and William met very young, the future princess had to wait almost ten years before William made her marriage proposal. They even separated briefly in 2007.
Kate and William married on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. A sumptuous wedding, followed by one billion viewers worldwide.
Since then, Kate Middleton, although plebeian, has become one of the most important and popular elements of the British royal family. Especially since Harry and his wife Meghan defeated in 2020 to settle in California.
Kate’s dignity in the face of the disease has further strengthened the empathy of the British towards him. The announcement of his remission in January 2025 was well received by the entire British press.
