NCIS ‘Pauley Perrette on “severe stroke” he suffered a year ago after disclosing health problems to fans

For 15 seasons, Pauley Perrette played NCIS as Abby Sciuto, the goth optimist who helped Leroy Jehtro Gibbs and his team solve crimes as a coroner at the Washington Navy Yard. As Perrette left the popular CBS show in 2018, she continued to share details with her fans about what’s going on in her personal life. That includes Perrette who recently commemorated the one-year anniversary of a “massive stroke,” and now the actress has opened up about what she was like dealing with that health fear.

Pauley Perrette has been through a lot in recent years, including the loss of her father to COVID, so it’s a shame to have a stroke besides these personal tragedies. In a conversation with Estla Time NCIS The actress recalled what she went through on that fateful day in September 2021, saying:

I woke up and had no sensation all over the right side of my body. At first I thought I was just sleeping weird. As I continued to realize the extent of the numbness; I couldn’t feel my finger touching my face I couldn’t feel my finger touching my face I couldn’t feel my laptop on my lap I couldn’t feel anything on the right side I could have burned or cut my finger and I wouldn’t have noticed. I called my doctor and he said to me: “GO TO AN EMERGENCY IMMEDIATELY.

Pauley Perrette admitted that she was initially reluctant to take that advice, telling this doctor that she intended to get a second opinion from her therapist, who is also a neurologist, during an appointment later in the day. The doctor informed Perrette that if she arrived at 5:00 pm, which she doubted, she thought her therapist would also recommend a trip to the emergency room. So that’s where she went, and she Perrette continued the story like this:

I went into the ER and thought, ‘Hey, I can’t feel the right side of my body anymore and …’ BAM! MY GOD! I was on a stretcher with a million things stuck in my arms and a bunch of doctors rushing me somewhere. They know how serious a stroke is and how urgent care is needed.

From there, Pauley Perrette was admitted to the hospital’s stroke unit and checked for speech and mobility, among other things. She the actress admitted that she had been dealing with some “persistent effects” of the stroke for a few months, in the end she “she did quite well” as she decided to go to the hospital as soon as possible. Perrette then added:

I’m doing great now and I really want people to learn about all the signs of a stroke, especially since you can have one at any age! By knowing the signs of a stroke, we can save ourselves and others.

Hopefully, Pauley Perrette, by reviewing her stroke experience, will inspire others to follow in her footsteps and seek immediate care if they exhibit such physical symptoms rather than waiting to see what else happens. As for Perrette’s professional life, she was last seen on the short-lived CBS sitcom. Brokenaired from April to June 2020. Since then, it appears that Perrette has retired from acting and, although there are no plans to bring Abby Sciuto back into NCIS, showrunner Steven D. Binder said he would like to start making more character references. In February 2022, Perrette joins forces with her peers NCIS actors Michael Weatherly, Diona Reasonover, Rocky Carroll and Meredith Eaton, along with other TV stars, to help raise money for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Needless to say, we’ll let you know if it’s been announced that Pauley Perrette will be returning to play Abby Sciuto in NCISbut for now, the show’s 20th season premiere is listed in the 2022 television schedule on September 19.
