Weinstein affair: Quentin Tarantino “feels guilty” for not having confronted the producer

A guest on the Chris Wallace series, the famous director returned to the accusations of sexual assault and violence against Harvey Weinstein, with whom he collaborated nine times in his career.

On a media tour for the launch of her new book, cinema speculationQuentin Tarantino appeared in the Chris Wallace series, “Who Talks to Chris Wallace.”

During this program, broadcast on HBO Max, the host asked the famous director about his relationship with Harvey Weinstein, a film producer accused of assault and sexual violence by many women.

If Quentin Tarantino has worked with the producer on nine films, he explains that he cut all ties with him at the time of the first revelations in the context of the Weinstein affair in October 2017. However, the director admits to being aware since then. of Harvey Weinstein’s behavior, but he claims he never knew it included sexual assault.

“I had never heard the stories that came out after, not at all,” Quentin Tarantino said during this interview.

“What I would have liked to do was talk to Harvey about it and say, ‘Harvey, you can’t do this. […] The reason I didn’t do it is because it’s a very difficult conversation to have. I thought that was pathetic. I felt that what he was doing was pathetic and I didn’t want to deal with his pathetic character, ”says the filmmaker.

“I feel guilty”

In the rest of the interview, Quentin Tarantino assures that he had not realized the seriousness of Harvey Weinstein’s actions.

“I didn’t think I would go as far as to say, ‘Okay, do this for me or you won’t get this movie.’ I’ve never heard any actress say anything like that. I’ve only heard things like, ‘Don’t get on the back of a limousine with him,'” the director explains.

And to add: “I feel bad. What hurts me is that I feel guilty for not having a man-to-man discussion with him on this issue.”

In October 2017, Quentin Tarantino had already revealed that his ex-girlfriend Mira Sorvino had confided in him about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment. “I knew he had done some of these things. I would have liked to take responsibility for what I had heard. If I had done what I should have done at the time, I would have been forced not to work with him.”

Currently on trial in Los Angeles for sexually assaulting four women, Harvey Weinstein is serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault in New York.
