“Natural head dragons”: how the director of “Dragons” adapted his live action of action live

The Dean Deblois Canadian, who made his first live action movie here after having piloted the animated trilogy, did not plan to transpose his creation to a film in real shots. “It was Dreamworks,” he told BFMTV:

“When I knew (they were preparing the movie), I had a protective instinct because I am very proud of the cartoons. I put my heart there, I know the characters and the universe.”

“Even if I had never made a live action movie, I had told them: ‘If you think about it, I want to do it. I can guarantee to be astonished, emotion and integrity.'”

“Dragon heads of life size”

It was a challenge for the filmmaker, to whom we also owe the original version of Lilo and stitchHe signs his first film in real shots here. One of the objectives was to create a dragon that is realistic and remain as expressive as in the animated saga:

“We had heads of dragons of life size on the set, (animated by) very talented puppeteers.”

“They managed to give life to these inanimate foam heads.
