The two members of this group of South Korea phenomena were welcomed by the screams and tears of more than a thousand of their fans, gathered for the occasion.
However, the child band agency, Hybé, had asked to stay away from the area where the two artists had been called under the flags, in Yeconcheon County, returned to the border heavily armed with North Korea.
The group at rest
The Septuor, of which the singer Suga will be the last launched on June 21, became the first formation of South Korea to dominate the American and British musical classifications, obtaining billions of dollars by constituting a worldwide community of fans, called “Army.”
But in South Korea, all valid men under 30 are called at least 18 months under the flags due to tensions with the north, an obligation that forced the Band of Children to mark a break in 2022.
More than a thousand fans gathered on Wednesday near the military base of which Jimin and Jungkook, in Yecancheon (North), went out to a press conference.
“Thank you very much for waiting for us all this time,” said Jungkook, whose voice was sometimes covered by the screams of fans.
“We will make sure to prepare well and show you an even better version of ourselves,” he continued.
Party appearance
For his part, Jimin said the army was not “an easy atmosphere.” “However, I have many surprising memories with me, and I will endure it for a long time.”
“If you find a soldier, even a small kindness of kindness would mean a lot for him,” he said.
In Yeconcheon County, the streets were decorated with flashlights and banners that affirm in particular: “Jimin! Now that you are released, what would you say about a world tour?” With the launch of the two K-Pop superstars, six BTS members, who debuted on June 13, 2013, have now completed their military service.
“Count on the days”
Fans around the world had gathered at 3 in the morning at the press conference scene in the hope of seeing them. “I think I’m going to cry,” said Anaisa Silva, 30, receptionist at a hotel in Portugal. “I have been an army for nine years and this is the first time I see them,” he said.
Rosie Tanquilut had made the trip from the Philippines. “We couldn’t sleep!” He assured this 64 -year -old admirer. “We have counted the days since they entered the army.”
“I am really grateful to everyone who waited for us. I really hope we can soon be ready to do the same as I should,” said Jungkook later, during a Live With Jimin on the Weverse platform.
Imminent return … but mysterious
The two artists explained that they were worried about being in front of a camera after their long absence. “I can’t look at the camera,” Jungkook said. “I really want to eliminate this outfit,” Jimin said, with a military uniform in the reason for camouflage.
All BTS members have renewed their contracts with their agency, Hybe, in 2023. Analysts predict that the group will resume the way to studies and the scene once all its members have been released from their military service.
The return of BTS is an “excellent news” for the K-Pop industry, says Yoo Sung-Man, analyst of the main investments and values. In its peak, the group represented 0.2% of South Korea’s GDP.
His Hybe agency is still very discreet about the resumption of children’s band activities. He pointed out in March that BTS members were going to have “need to think and prepare.”
The launch of Jimin and Jungkook occurs two days before the 12th anniversary of the beginnings of the children’s band on Friday. Hybé’s office in Seoul was covered with the slogan “We are back” (“We are back”, editor note) to mark the event. Thousands of fans are expected in this “Festa BTS”.
