The children of Ari Boulogne, an alleged son of the late Alain Delon, relaunched on Thursday, June 12 before the request of the French Paternity Research Law that his father had initiated in 2019, before he died in 2023. The Chamber of the Family of the Poitiers Court of Poitiers, which examined the case, had to make his decision on September 25, 2025.
Alain Delon never recognized the fatherhood of Ari Boulogne, born in 1962 and son of the German singer of the group The Velvet Underground with whom he had a brief adventure. When he was a child, Ari was raised by Alain Delon’s own mother, Edith Boulogne, whose name he is carrying.
Ari Boulogne had submitted a request for recognition in paternity before the Orleans court, Alain Delon, had a residence in the region.
In August 2020, this court declared “the territorially incompetent French jurisdiction” to judge this request, due to the place of residence of Alain Delon, Switzerland. A confirmed decision a year later by a judgment of the Orleans Court of Appeals.

But on May 23, 2024, the Court of Cassation broke the decision of September 2021, explaining that the French nationality of the applicant, Ari Boulogne, “founded the jurisdiction of the French courts.”
Only the lawyers of the different parties were present at the hearing held behind closed doors. Those of Anthony, Alain-Fabien and Anuchka Delon, who oppose the request for recognition in paternity, have categorically refused to speak.
According to Charles Boulogne’s council, the public prosecutor’s office did not support the approach initiated by his father. The debates also focused on the application or not on the German law (of the mother), which would be more favorable for applicants, because it does not impose a time limit, while the French law limits the period to 10 years for paternity research actions.
