Currently condemnations ongoing, upcoming judgments, canceled procedures … What situation for Harvey Weinstein eight years after his fall?

The fallen producer was convicted of sexual aggression this week by a jury after his trial in New York. This episode does not mark the end of this judicial saga that extends for several years.

From the revelations eight years ago from The New Yorker and The New York Times that marked the beginning of his fall, former film producer Harvey Weinstein is in the heart of a long judicial saga. The last episode took place this week, with the end of his trial in New York.

Redo From the trial that had been held four years earlier, he saw Harvey Weinstein be declared guilty of sexual aggression but paid other facts of the same type, while the judge declared the violation procedure.

Whatever the pronounced sentence, the producer of Pulp fiction AND Shakespeare in Love A 16 -year prison sentence for rape is already after bars and purges after the conviction in California in 2023.

• A first test canceled in 2024

In 2020, Harvey Weinstein appeared before a Manhattan court for an ultra -mediated trial, a symbol of the #MeToo movement against sexual violence. The producer is declared guilty of sexual aggression in 2006 about former production assistant Miriam Haley and violation by the candidate for actress Jessica Mann in 2013. For these events, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Four years later, the New York Court of Appeals made a decision that has the effect of a Thunderclap. By four votes and three votes against, she decides to cancel the 2020 trial and, therefore, Weinstein’s conviction. The Court of Appeals judges that the testimonies of the victims of sexual assault by which the producer was not accused had not heard by the jurors.

• A shared verdict after the second test

After the cancellation of the first trial in New York, Harvey Weinstein found the dock on April 15, 2025 in Manhattan. It is restarted by the sexual assault of Miriam Haley and the rape of Jessica Mann, but also for sexual assault in 2006 in a Manhattan hotel of a Polish model, Kaja Sokola.

After days of deliberations and dissensions inside, the jury ends up returning its verdict. On Wednesday, June 11, Weinstein told Miriam Haley to Weinstein. However, the producer is acquitted by the facts against Kaja Sokola.

The next day, and because the jury has not yet ruled on this aspect, Judge Curtis Farber “declares a zero trial” for the archive on the rape of Jessica Mann. Now we are waiting for the judge’s judgment, Harvey Weinstein by incurring up to 25 years in prison.

• A third New York trial to come

This week’s verdicts do not mean that the New York component of the Weinstein issue has come to an end. The producer’s defense has already said that he intended to appeal. “We have very convincing evidence of a serious jury failure during this trial,” said Weinstein’s lawyer for journalists, Arthur Aidala, quoted by Reuters.

For their part, prosecutors plan to continue the producer for the third time for the alleged violation of Jessica Mann in 2013. At this point, Curtis Farber announced that the case would be judged. A hearing has been scheduled for July 2.

• A conviction in Los Angeles

Waiting for the epilogue on the east coast, Harvey Weinstein remains sentenced to facts committed on the other side of the United States to date. On February 23, 2023, a 16 -year prison sentence against him in Los Angeles for rape and sexual aggression in 2013 for a European model and actress was pronounced.

During this trial, four women had tested in total anonymously against the producer. He was accused of having forced them sex in hotels in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles between 2004 and 2013.

• A call always pending

However, the producer’s defense does not intend to throw in the towel in the case tried in Los Angeles. Believing that he did not benefit from a right trial in California, Harvey Weinstein asked for this sentence last year.

And the fact that his client was declared guilty of sexual aggression this week in New York does not prevent lawyer Jennifer Bonjean from waiting for a reversal of the thousands of kilometers. “This does not change the strength of our call, which is solid and convincing,” he told New York Times. “We will continue to fight until the end.”
