Carol Burnett is a national darling and one of the most important women in the history of American comedy. She is so loved that the Golden Globes named her her Lifetime Achievement in Television Carol Burnett Award. She recently made headlines when she made an unforgettable appearance in the AMC Emmy nominated drama. You better call Saul. It reinvigorated the fans’ sense of gratitude for the contributions Burnett made to television, which is why it’s baffling that he hasn’t hosted yet. Live Saturday night.
SNL Famoso is a place where artists can demonstrate their comic sensibility in the form of a sketch show. Burnett practically revolutionized the sketch show format when he created it The Carol Burnett show in 1967, setting the stage for a show like SNL To thrive. To her, never having been a part of what has become an institution of American comedy is very strange. Fans clearly want this to happen, defending a now viral tweet pleading with NBC to host Burnett.
Carol Burnett is 89 and has never hosted SNL. NBC is putting an end to this madness now.August 29, 2022
That tweet sparked a firestorm, with others playing in support of Burnett. SNL appearance too.
Since Carol Burnett is trending @nbcsnl after seeing her amazing performance on Better Call Saul recently, why has she NEVER been asked to host Saturday Night Live? 😡August 20, 2022
Comedian fellow Patton Oswalt also took part in this healthy online campaign.
Guys, Carol Burnett. Here we go. For piecere? https://t.co/HzT7O484oRAugust 29, 2022
You better call Saul definitely gave Burnett a new audience behind her. The show was a once in a lifetime twist for the comedy icon, who played Marion, the elderly mother of a taxi driver named Jeff. The two got Saul in trouble when Jeff recognized him after the scammer changed his name to Gene and went into hiding in Omaha. Even at 89, Carol Burnett still has it. If you can keep up with Saul, you can definitely keep up with the practically new SNL cast, particularly as a veteran of sketch comedy.
But could it happen?
It could definitely happen if Lorne Michaels listened and monitored what fans are clamoring for the show. According to The Explosion, a source reveals that Michaels will do anything to get Burnett on the show. A source would say:
It is still early to see if Carol will host or be invited to host. But if the trend continues, like it did with Betty White, Lorne and the show will definitely try to make it happen.
If Carol Burnett returns to host the pillar of the network, she will be the oldest person ever to have done so. Currently, this record is held by Betty White. White was 88 when he hosted her in 2010 and was a good friend of Burnett’s before her death in 2021. Like Betty White, Burnett always seems up for a challenge. I’m sure she would be a wonderful hostess.
we hope to know more SNL news soon, as the new season airs this fall on NBC. In the meantime, you can watch the first five seasons of You better call Saul now for Netflix subscribers, although the Burnett episode is not yet available on the streamer. You can also watch previous episodes of SNL currently streaming for fans with a Peacock subscription.
