The generative artificial intelligence, which allows to create voices, music, videos and works of art from a simple text request (or notice), is in all minds.
It is found mainly in many Japan Expo stands, a very popular event that brings together manga and animated fans from Japan or all Asia. It is not uncommon to meet an artist who shows an insert in his stand to specify that he has generated any element for sale. An observation that contrasts with certain other more important positions, which sometimes use it openly and sometimes not.
Royal artists against the AI that explodes in the Convention
“There are no rules,” he instructs an artist on condition of anonymity in BFMTV, “I would like us to exclude the stands that abuse AI so that they sometimes sell very expensive objects, when there is no creation.”
To this concern is added the fear that artificial intelligence will replace or steal their work.
“I made sure that Goal I cannot train its models in my drawings,” explains Cynthia*, who has an Instagram in more than 300,000 subscribers, “but that does not prevent another from going to sneak what I am doing.”
In the halls of the panels “no ai” swarm, often in front of the wholesalers.
“A support is expensive, and if I have to hire an artist, it is no longer the same price,” we are justified in a stand where AI is clearly visible in beer bottles or movie posters.
“There is a well -maintained general vagueness by those who abuse it,” says Julien*, comics designer. In his position, he does not hesitate to inform fans and the curious people who come to see him: “Remember that what makes the soul of a drawing or a creation that comes out of a human mind.” In front of him, Fanny, a mother accompanied by her 9 -year -old son, welcomes this speech: “We need our artists.”
Techniques to avoid being cheated by AI
Some visitors from Japan’s exhibition also explain that they were sometimes had: “I had found a good position with beautiful drawings, I bought one at the expense of an original drawing, and an artist friend showed me that it was a drawing generated by AI,” Julie laments.
If it is increasingly difficult to recognize a drawing made by AI, it is not impossible. The artists give some tips: “First we must look at the drawing in general, if it is not realistic, for example, with strange colors or proportions. Then, take a look at the characteristics. The AI sometimes tends not to finish them, or make strange movements to the character it generates. Finally, the number of fingers, the absence of consistency in certain accessories can allow it to be confirmed.
“There is no miraculous solution, but it already makes it possible to evacuate the most obvious. However, it is more difficult in small treats such as key doors,” a second is accommodated.
The fear of dubbing actors
On the side of the dubbing actors too, the concern grows. The community observes a very followed strike, in particular to criticize new conditions in the contracts. At the beginning of 2025, it seemed that Electronic Arts imposed on the actors of their game Apex legends to have his AI in his voice. Given the refusal of the American editor, a withdrawal was made of the French voices, not making them say unpublished dialogues of the new seasons.
“I do not know any actor for AI,” he explains to Tech & Co Arnaud Laurent, theater and dubbing actor, who embodies in Natsu Dragnir French, of the animated Fairy tail. “But be careful, we are not against AI in the sense that it is a technological advance, it will continue to advance, but it is necessary to legislate to protect and avoid excess.”
Faced with the Hollywood stars that declared themselves on strike for long months, paralyzing the studies and shootings, the dubbing actors are less known and, therefore, less weight: “They have a very strong support compared to the dubbing actors,” he laments “, if with conventions, we have become a little known, the role of the bending actor is in the shadow.
Like Brigitte Lecordier, that Tech & Co had been able to question in 2024, the Japan expo is also used to show the importance of the profession for fans who come to ask for dedications or photos: “On our scale, they can do strikes, and also to say that the public has something to lose. Not everyone realizes the impact it can have. If in 15 years, they are all underwent. Japan “.
If the Ministry of Culture, first of all, Rachida Dati, has never responded clearly to requests to double comedians, some ads were made to “protect freedom of creation.” A plan announced in December and revealed on July 6, 2025 wants to put professionals in the world of culture of understanding keys in case of “attacks” on this subject.
Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, clearly spoke of artificial intelligence in a speech pronounced on July 2, in which she explains the concerns of understanding, but we also see “opportunities.” He also called to sign agreements instead of going to litigation. “
