“I’m not going to die immediately”: Thierry Ardisson trusts his end of life in “The hidden side of man in black”

In the documentary that returns the public and private life of the host Thierry Ardisson, the latter trusted his illness and showed a rare optimism, with the desire to never surrender.

“A return to reality.” Three days after the announcement of the death of the presenter and television producer, Thierry Ardisson, a documentary that goes back the life of man in black, produced and produced by his wife Audrey Crespo-Mara, was broadcast on TF1. Childhood, television, excess, outrageous … in The hidden side of man in blackThierry Ardisson confesses, in front of the camera, before saying goodbye to the small screen.

In this documentary of an hour and a half, the host also wanted to tell his end of life. Affected by liver cancer, he had a long medical follow -up that, he assures him, “brought him back to reality.” “For people like me, it is important to measure the reality of the world, because we still live in a fairly easy universe and in the hospital, we return to reality.”

In front of his wife, he guarantees that he was never afraid. “Frankly, no, for the moment I am not afraid. It does not prevent me from sleeping, to live.” The only “fear” is that the disease “explodes.” “But it gives a taste for life.”

“Since I have this disease, I have much more pleasure in simple things. See the people I love, do things I love. I learn that in the end, when it goes wrong, you have to hold your teeth and continue,” he says smiling.

And to add a “prayer that loves”: “When you cross the desert, progress.”

“I live in a world where they are all for their mouths”

Very aware of his illness, Thierry Ardisson has always maintained his optimism in the face of death, particularly to trust the medical profession. “I know exactly what I have, what treatments do.”

“And when I get to the hospital, I donate my body to science. From the moment I am lying in bed, they have everything, they do what they want.”

“I am very moved by caregivers and nurses,” he also trusts tears in his eyes, while repeating his “trust.” “I live in a world where they are all for their mouth. No here.”

He still managed to convince his doctor to grant him “four or five cigarettes a day”, after his strict prohibition of drinking alcohol. “I told Toubib ‘that you are kind, but I am an artist, I write movies, books, television programs. If I stop drinking and smoking completely, I will cue me.”

“I’m not going to die, I’m still eight weeks”

Last March, Thierry Ardisson learned during a control exam after radiotherapy that his liver cancer had not advanced, but that his lungs were now weakened. A news that he learned with his wife but has not achieved his optimism and his sure not being afraid of death.

“No, but I’m not going to die immediately, huh,” he told Audrey Crespo-Mara. “Don’t worry, I’m still eight weeks,” he said, laughing.

This documentary was finally a way for the black man to remember who was behind the host, who was Thierry Ardisson, from his first days to his last fight against the disease. “Leaving a trail is a way of fighting death,” he simply summarizes.
