Michel Blanc often said that the shooting of Doctor? He had been one of the worst memories of his career. And yet, he loved this movie of friends tenderly in which he formed a duo with a 37 -year -old actor, his child, Hakim Jemili, which is the first role in the cinema.
Launched in December 2019, Doctor? Follow a doctor at the end of the roller forced to Christmas custody with a deliveryman. This comedy feels good, produced by Tristan Séguéla, found a great success in theaters, almost a million admissions, before reaching television.
In Doctor?Michel Blanc embodies an abrupt character, in front of Plenichards losers who made him famous. I was very proud to finally be able to play, thanks to this movie, another comic archetype. “He said it was one of the things that was probably in this movie,” says Tristan, know her in our podcast Comedy Club.

“In Shade EITHER Come home, live with a girlfriendHe was Augustus. He was the one we laugh. He was the jester. (Doctor?), was his first white clown. I was very happy to know that it was not he laughed, but (Hakim Jamili), “continues the director.
“I was frozen a little”
Michel Blanc was really in love with Hakim Jemili. “(Before starting it, he had shown him) Hakim’s filmed tests,” says Tristan Séguéla. “Very fast, I saw him laugh and mock behind the screen. I remember that his agent had looked at me to tell me that he was going to do it.”
But before the shooting, Michel Blanc had chosen not to speak with Hakim Jemili. “I had frozen a little,” Tristan said. “As soon as they met one day in the accessories. And Michel was very cold with him. I continued that it could be complicated. But in fact, he fed his character.” And the director to detail:
“For Michel, everything that preceded (Filmar) would have damaged his real meeting. I made his meeting (in the film) almost coincides with his first day of filming. The film is the story of a fortuitous meeting. He wanted him to serve in front of the camera and not during the rehearsals. It was a wise choice.”
Tristan Séguéla did not feel threatened by this intervention by the actor. “I retrospectively believe that it was a skillful and intelligent way to weigh on the movie. And yet, it is not someone who wanted to go beyond its function. I found him very respectful of the position that was mine.”
Four girls on the stairs
The screenwriter himself, Michel Blanc is also very respectful of the signed script Tristan Séguéla and Jim Birmant. In the set, he asks for only one response. “Prayer had bothered it,” recalls the director. “It was a news -related valve, a little out of words.”
Michel Blanc hated improvisation. “If you changed a word in the text, you had to decide in advance.” So he rehearsed his text tirelessly, even on weekends. And when I wanted to modify a word, he called the director. “He was always very respectful. At first, he even went through his agent.”
The first day of filming, Michel Blanc offers a beautiful fear of the team. While preparing, the 66 -year -old actor falls on the stairs. “He made four tingling on the stairs. After fear, very quickly, he got up and seemed to leave.” But the actor is hypochondriac and begins to persuade himself that he cannot turn.
“He had an ankle pain and thought that the shooting was not going to be able to take place, because we would have to put a plaster of walking,” continues the director. “We call a doctor, a real one, to examine it. We took an hour to verify that everything was fine. Fortunately, he was a miracle.”
“We read things in our eyes”
The shooting takes place mainly at night, which Michel Blanc hates more in the world. “At first, we were fine, we kept the nerves, but very quickly, we were really exhausted because we went to bed every day at 6, 7 or 8 am. We met to chain the nights and was completely exploited, like all of us.”
Fatigue did not affect its performance. I think he even fed him, “adds the director.” This is one of the reasons why it is so good: it is tired and fatigue hits your nerves and makes it irascible, grumpy. “
At the beginning of filming, Michel Blanc was also affected by a personal drama, his father’s disappearance. This duel helped him camp his character, also a single man after the death of a loved one. “We read things in his eyes, in that slightly stretched voice. I think we’ve never heard it that way.”
“He didn’t tell me anything”
Michel Blanc was proud of the movie, but her first reaction was a bit confusing, Tristan is told. “He didn’t tell me anything. I told myself that maybe he didn’t like this movie. But Claire, her agent, assured me. She told me that it was always the same, that I shouldn’t worry.”

A few weeks later, during a public preview, Michel Blanc saw the film in a complete room in Lille. “He delighted and let me know immediately after, apologizing almost for having been the first time, thanking me and above all telling me that he had really loved the movie.”
Well received by the press, Doctor? gathered 797,236 rooms in the mouth to the ears. On television, he played 4 million viewers during his first transmission. “I received a small Michel message that told me: ‘I never managed to check my films on television, but I loved it. Thank you. It made me very happy.”
After filming, Michel Blanc continued to support Hakim Jemili. The two men remained close. It was even his godfather in César. When he died, Hakim Jemili paid tribute to Instagram to which he considered “his film father”: “Thank you for everything you have done for me.”
