After the announcement of his disappearance this July 22, many personalities from the world of music and some of the cinema paid tribute to the legendary leader of Black Sabbath.

“He was a dear friend and a great pioneer who won his place in the pantheon of the rock gods, a real legend,” Elton John wrote on Instagram. This July 22, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne, a great British Heavy Metal figure, died at the age of 76, his family announced in a statement. For several years, he was fighting Parkinson’s disease and had suffered several operations in the spine after an accident in 2018.

In the process, several faces of the world of music gave him a vibrant tribute. Starting with Elton John: “I am very sad to learn the death of Ozzy Osbourne. (…) It was also one of the funniest people I have met. I will miss him terribly. In Sharon and his family, I send my condolences and all my love.”

In its X account, the Metallica metal group published a photo of the group with Ozzy Osbourne, accompanied by a broken heart.

“Thanks for everything”

In early July, The Legend of Rock returned to the stage in Birmingham, with its Black Sabbath group, for a last concert. The group had not gathered in their original training for twenty years, but Ozzy Osbourne wanted to offer “a perfect farewell” to the group’s fans, in their words. This concert also included services from the band’s friends, including Metallica and Guns N ‘Roses.

The British singer Yungblud, also present during the last Black Sabbath concert, said: “I did not think you would leave so early. The last time we met, you were full of life and your laugh filled the work (…) I will never forget you, you will be in every note that I sing and with me every time I go on stage.”

Ronnie Wood, guitarist of the Rolling Stones, recalls a “beautiful farewell concert” when Gene Simmons, bassist of the Kiss group, praised the memory of “a giant admired and loved by millions of fans around the world.”

The guitarist and singer Jack White transmitted on Instagram an image of the young Ozzy Osbourne with the legend: “He succeeded.”

American Metal singer Rob Zombie published several photos of the founding member of Black Sabbath, adding: “Goodbye Ozzy. Thank you for everything. It was always a pleasure to be by your side. We will miss it.”

“The only prince of darkness”
