The famous Russian composer Rodion Chtchedrine died at 92

The Bolchoi Theater in Moscow announced Friday that the illustrious Russian composer Rodion Chtchedrine, author of the world -famous ballets, died at the age of 92.

“One of the best contemporary geniuses”, including “operas, ballets and symphonies have been played for several decades in the world’s largest stages” that remained on Thursday night to Friday, at the age of 92, said the Bolchoi Theater in Moscow.

Born on December 16, 1932 in Moscow, the composer became known in the West with Carmen SuiteBallet Music written in 1967 who made his wife shine, the great Russian dancer, Maïa Plissetskaïa, on the stage of Bolchoi. Consecrated by the Bolchoi “Prima Ballerina Assoluta”, the latter died in 2015.

Rich in more than 80 works in total, “the invaluable artistic heritage of Chtchedrine always finds an echo in the hearts of the public,” said the Bolchoi.
