Russian President Vladimir Putin, questioned Wednesday for journalists about the film The magician du Kremlin From Olivier Assayas, in which Jude Law embodies it on the screen, said that until now he had not heard of that. The feature film appeared for the first time a few days ago in the 82nd show in Venice.
Adapted from Giuliano da Empoli’s successful novel, The magician du Kremlin Chronicle more than two decades of Russian political life marked by adhesion to the power of Vladimir Putin.
“I even listen to myself. I can’t comment, because I don’t know,” he said at a press conference out of a trip to China, in which AFP participated.
Prestigious casting
The film, selected in the official competition in the Venice Mostra at the end of August, follows the career of Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano), Gray Eminence of Vladimir Putin and the character inspired largely by Vladislav Sourkov, Kremlin advisor until 2020.
Vladimir Putin, in business in Russia since 2000, has been taken to the screen disguised as the law of Judas Britanic, one of the most famous actors of his generation.
We also find a gallery of characters that have marked the news in recent years, such as Evguéni Prigojine or the oligarch Boris Berezovski, both deceased. The novel was adapted for the cinema by the French writer Emmanuel Carrère and the French director Olivier Assayas.
