Tom Felton recently released a memoir detailing his experience with the Harry Potter franchise, titled Beyond the wand: the magic and chaos of growing up as a wizard. While promoting his new book, the Draco Malfoy actor gave fans a taste of what’s in store for readers. He shared a funny story about an awkward interaction with the late great Alan Rickman and some serious details about his battle with addiction. recently the Harry Potter The student shared a paragraph from the book where he compared his own family to the Malfoys, prompting a huge response from fans.
Felton posted an Instagram photo from the memoir in which he stated that his family was very different from the Malfoy family that his character, Draco, was a part of. Even though the Malfoys were cold, distant, and treated their son very badly, their own family was much more close-knit and friendly. You can check out the snippet he shared below:
One fan noted that while Felton’s upbringing was different from his character, he was impersonating another. Harry Potter the family at the center of the magical tale. The fan commented:

For context, the Weasleys are the warm and welcoming family of Ron Weasley, Harry Potter’s best friend. Although the family is lower class, they offer their family of 9 a lot of love and compassion, becoming the wholesome family Harry never had. The Malfoys, on the other hand, are upper class and involved in dark magic. Felton’s character Draco tends to bully the Weasley family because of his class. While Felton is clearly more into growing a different character than him, this was never shown and the actor was the perfect fit to play Draco throughout the series.
Anecdotally, Tom Felton had a lot of family support during his time with Potter, as well as a lot of support from cast members. He said he considered Daniel Radcliffe a brother. Furthermore, his close relationship with Emma Watson has also been well documented, along with their constant love for each other. It was Watson who encouraged Felton to tell her story and to write her memoirs. It seems like the actor had a lot of love and warmth around him, even if his Draco character didn’t.
