Chantal Goya and her husband Jean-Jacques standing sentenced to pay 2.18 million euros to the municipal credit of Bordeaux

The interpreter of “Pandi Panda” and “Bécassine” and the composer of Dalida and Johnny Hallyday were forced by justice to reimburse their loan, hired in 2018 to clean a fiscal debt.

2,182,545 euros and 25 cents. This is the sum that Chantal Goya and her husband Jean-Jacques were ordered to pay the municipality of Bordeaux de Caisse de Credit, when they requested the cancellation of their debt from this establishment to which they took a loan. The icon of the children’s song and the composer appealed this decision issued by the Paris Court on August 19.

According to SouthwestThis conviction is closely linked to the gray areas that surround the municipal loan of Bordeaux. In 2018, compared to a fiscal debt of 1.65 million euros, the pair of artists resorted to this establishment to hire a loan of 2,215 million euros for five years. A way to avoid paying increases in public treasure.

As guaranteed, the couple only had the rights of Jean-Jacques on foot, the prolific composer who worked with Johnny Hallyday and Dalida, and author of the entire youth repertoire of Chantal Goya.

Slippery

An operation that was part of a problematic period for the care of the municipal credit of Bordeaux. Between 2017 and 2020, the institution had multiplied risky loans, moving away from its traditional social assistance mission to grant millions of euros to rich clients, sometimes without solid guarantees.

Faced with these landslides, the Prudential Control and Resolution Authority of the Banking of France inflicted a fault and a fine of 120,000 euros in the municipal credit of Bordeaux in 2021. The Regional Chamber of Accounts had also estimated that these dangerous practices had generated more than 3.9 million euros in losses for the public establishment.

Debt cancellation?

Before the court of Paris, Chantal Goya and Jean-Jacques were standing to argue that they had not been sufficiently informed of the dangers linked to their loan. His lawyers discussed an absence of risks information, requesting the direct cancellation of the debt. But Justice rejected this defense, believing that the couple had benefited from appropriate support, particularly for an expert in economic law and a financing corridor.

Contacted by FigaroThe couple’s lawyer, Me Stéphane Loisy, immediately reacted to the conviction. He says that “the call is underway and that the trial is far from being final”, while specifying that its clients are “far from ruined.” The Council also announces that “many factual elements that appear in this judgment are reproduced in the incriminated publications and, nevertheless, they remain questionable.”

Despite their appeal in the appeal, the couple remains obliged to pay the sum: the judgment judgment is enforceable.
