Star Trek: Traveler Veteran Robert Picardo spent years playing a character called “The Doctor,” but if you asked most pop culture fans who “The Doctor” is, chances are they’d call that of past or present clues from another pillar of science fiction: Doctor who. Hopefully, fans of both franchises will be pleased to hear that Picardo has been having some fun along these lines recently, zooming in on the present and the past. Who stars David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker on a quest to find out who the real doctor is.
Robert Picardo has posted a lot of entertainment content on Chirping from Showmasters’ London Film and Comic Con, and apparently couldn’t resist taking pictures with Doctor who Picardo’s elites first appeared to plot the next star of Doctor who 60th anniversary special David Tennant, and I just had to pick a mock fight to figure out which one of them is the Future Doctor:

David Tennant is responsible for some of the Doctor who the best episodes of , so it’s not surprising that he didn’t want to acknowledge Robert Picardo’s claim. (That chutzpah is what makes him such a Crowley fiend auspicious.) Plus, Tennant is the first incarnation of the Doctor to return following his regeneration, which only seems to solidify his status as one of the all-time greats to play the role.
Picardo’s doctor enjoyed it Star Trek: Traveler, but even I would find it hard to say that his doctor is more deserving of the title than Tennant. That said, I really think Picardo would make a good PhD Doctor who if he ever had the chance to be the host, in case anyone with the power to make that happen read on.
Subsequently, Robert Picardo managed to find Jodie Whittaker, who had just finished her degree in Doctor who. Picardo asked her who the Doctor was, and like Tennant, she did not give him the answer she wanted:

These exchanges are too brilliant for words and I love them. It’s not often that fans see actors from their favorite franchises engaging in character banter on this level, so kudos to Robert Picardo, Jodie Whittaker, and David Tennant for having fun with the tangential connection between the two franchises.
Robert Picardo’s hilarious tweets are the latest cross between star Trek Yes Doctor whoBut not the only one. The two franchises collided in the famous IDW crossover Assimilation²which included Doctors Matt Smith and Tom Baker, as well as the team of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Definitely worth a read for anyone like me who cares about Robert Picardo taking pictures with captions with David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker. Now, if only Paramount + e Doctor who The new home of Disney+ can work to get a live-action crossover between the two franchises, my life would be complete.
