Ten years after his victory in The Voice that propelled him into the spotlight, the 28-year-old singer released Live in October 2024, a certified platinum album. “A wave of love”
Vivre especially marked the return of Kendji Girac, a few months after making headlines. During an alcoholic evening in April 2024, in Biscarosse, Kendji Girac shot himself in the chest after an argument with his partner. A gesture that could have cost him his life. “Never in my life have I had the idea of ending my life,” he says today.
Far from turning their backs on him, his audience supported him. “I thought I wasn’t going to pick up my guitar and go on stage anymore,” he told BFMTV. “But I’m lucky to have a loving and supportive audience. I received an incredible wave of love. That’s what allowed me to recover.”
“It is thanks to them that I am inspired, that I want to sing, tell new stories.”
Kendji Girac talks about this evening that could have been fatal in a book titled my lifean autobiography published October 1 by Flammarion. The singer also traces his path, from his childhood in the gypsy community to his musical career. There he tells her about his problems with alcohol.
After this book and the album, a tour will follow, titled Living our 10 years in January 2026, who will celebrate his 10-year career. More than 250,000 tickets have already been sold. The artist will be at the Accor Arena in Paris on March 14, 2026.
