“It means coming back better, stronger”: the Lollapalooza festival in Paris cancels its 2026 edition

The famous Lollapalooza festival, held every year in July in Paris, decided to close its doors for the next edition in 2026, due to “concerns” and “limitations”, especially within the organization.

Festival attendees will have to wait two years to return to this event. The famous Lollapalooza festival located at the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris is exceptionally on pause “due to various factors inherent to the organization” for the next edition in July 2026, the festival announced this Monday, October 20 on Instagram.

“And because we like to challenge ourselves and constantly reinvent this unique event, we have decided to give ourselves one more year before seeing you again,” the festival said in a press release.

It is the second time that this festival, which welcomes around 110,000 attendees each year, has canceled its edition since the event was canceled in 2024 due to lack of security: the Paris Olympic Games were being held at the same time.

“The wait will be a little longer”

The organizers justify this decision to be able to welcome festival attendees “in the best conditions” in the next edition.

“Yes, the wait will be a little longer… but it means coming back better, stronger, with even more love, energy and passion,” the press release still reads.

Questioned by Le Parisien, the director of Live Nation France, Angelo Coope, explained that there are “too many concerns and limitations” to guarantee the 2026 edition.

“We are one of the few festivals that operates without subsidies or volunteers, we have more than 2,000 employees during the festival, including 600 security guards per day, and we have to be reasonable. I play with my money and I don’t want to take any risks,” he explains to the Parisian newspaper.

Last year, the festival hosted international music stars such as Justin Timberlake, Olivia Rodrigo and Benson Boone. If the festival closes its doors in 2026, Angelo Coope says the event will return in 2027.
