The actor appears alongside Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson, who played his brothers Reese and Francis respectively in the original show.
“They told me not to post this yet, but I remembered the credits of the series (which says: ‘you’re not my boss anymore,’ editor’s note). I can’t wait for you to see the new episodes and I miss my brothers,” he wrote on Instagram.
Last April, Frankie Muniz also shared a first photo from the filming of the series with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, who play his parents Hal and Loïs.
Scheduled for 2026
Broadcast on Fox between 2000 and 2006, and since 2001 in France, malcolm It follows the daily life of a talented young man and his family in a middle-class American suburb.
In 2019, Frankie Muniz had already mentioned a project to reunite this famous family made up of Malcolm, Lois, Hal, Francis, Reese and Dewey in a film, at the initiative of Bryan Cranston.
But the project was officially confirmed in December 2024 by Disney+, which commissioned a new 4-episode miniseason of the cult show from the 2000s.
According to the official synopsis, this resurgence, scheduled for 2026 and called Malcolm in the Middle: Life is still unfairwill tell “the 40 years of marriage of Hal and Loïs, who will bring together their family for the occasion, including Malcolm and their daughter.”
Actor Dewey replaced
As for the cast, Frankie Muniz (Malcolm), Bryan Cranston (Hal) and Jane Kaczmarek (Loïs) will return, while Erik Per Sullivan, who played the role of Dewey, Malcolm’s little brother, will be replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.
Two new characters should also appear: Malcolm’s daughter, who will be played by Keeley Karsten, as well as the main character’s younger sister, who will be played by Vaughan Murrae.
It remains to be seen who will dub Hal and Loïs’ French voices. Jean-Louis Faure, the French voice of Bryan Cranston, who plays the father of the family, died in March 2022. Marion Game, who voiced Loïs, the mother of the family, died in March 2023.
