The guitar of Noel Gallagher of the group Oasis, broken by his brother Liam during their notorious argument in 2009, sold for 289,800 pounds (332,280 euros) in London.

The guitar of Noel Gallagher of the group Oasis, broken by his brother Liam during their notorious argument in 2009, was sold for 289,800 pounds (332,280 euros) in London, the auction house Propstore announced on Friday.

The blood red Gibson had been smashed by Liam Gallagher in his dressing room at the Rock en Seine festival, near Paris.

The star Britpop group dissolved after this discussion and we had to wait until last summer to see the two brothers together on stage again. The group reunited for a world tour that was a huge success.

Well below its maximum estimate

The guitar sold well below its high estimate of £500,000 (€575,000).

This instrument, restored in 2011, has already been sold at auction in 2022 in Paris for 385,000 euros.

In addition, Noel Gallagher’s handwritten lyrics, including those for the hit “Wonderwall”, fetched £75,600 (€86,568).

During this sale, Elvis Presley’s sunglasses fetched 75,600 pounds (86,568 euros).

Michael Jackson’s famous white Fedora hat, worn in the 1988 Smooth Criminal music video, sold for £50,400 (€57,691).

Memorabilia from David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and other music legends are also on offer during the sale, which ends Friday night.
