American actor Jesse Eisenberg, best known for his role in David Fincher’s The Social Network, is preparing to donate one of his kidneys to a stranger “in six weeks.” This is what he said on the show. Today on NBC.
Accustomed to donating blood, the actor had difficulty explaining his motivations, apart from obvious altruism.
“I don’t know why,” he said. “I’ve caught the blood donation bug. I’m going to make a selfless donation in mid-December. I can’t wait to do it.”
“It’s virtually risk-free and very necessary,” he said in another interview. “I think people will realize it’s a no-brainer, if they have the time and inclination.”
An anonymous donation
Altruistic donation is the term used when it is a non-directed donation and the donor does not know the recipient. Both remain anonymous. The donor does not know who he gives his organ to and the recipient does not know who gave it to him.
The idea occurred to him about ten years ago, he says, but he had not been able to make it a reality before. “Let’s imagine that person
“This person can still receive my kidney and I hope that their child will in turn donate it. The kidney is then deposited in a kidney bank where this person can find a compatible recipient, but this only works if there is an altruistic donor.”
“These people have billions”
Jesse Eisenberg notably played in The Berkmans separate, Welcome to Zombielandor recently in A real painjuggling with ease between independent films and blockbusters. He also starred The Social Networkabout the creation of Facebook. He played Mark Zuckerberg. He will not appear in the second part prepared by Aaron Sorkin, co-writer of the 2010 film. “I don’t want to be associated with someone like that anymore,” said the actor, referring to the technology billionaire.
“These people have billions and billions of dollars, more money than any human being has ever amassed, and what are they doing with it?”
If he doesn’t have billions, Jesse Eisenberg has certainly found something more valuable to give.
