The American actor Chuck Norris pays tribute to Clarence Gilyard Jr., who gave him the counterpart during the eight seasons of the cult series Walker, Texas Ranger. In a message posted Tuesday on Instagram, he salutes the memory of his former colleague, just hours after the announcement of her death at age 66.
“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Clarence Gilyard. Over nearly a decade we shared many good times working together, and we both loved bringing the bad guys back to justice.”
“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children,” Chuck Norris wrote alongside a photo of the two actors on the set of the series, which aired from 1993 to 2001.
“You will be sorely missed by all who knew you. May you rest in peace, my friend. Until we meet again.”
Roles in blockbusters
Within Walker, Texas Ranger, Clarence Gilyard Jr. played the game ranger James Trivette, colleague and best friend of Chuck Norris’s character. He appeared in nearly all of the show’s 203 episodes. He is also famous for his roles in the series. Matlock as well as in movies top gun Y glass trap.
The causes of his death, announced this Tuesday by the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Nevada, where he taught film and theater classes, have not been communicated.
