After Elton John, another monument of British music paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who died this Thursday at the age of 96. The Rolling Stones and their singer Mick Jagger emotionally evoked the memory of the sovereign on social networks:
“Throughout my life, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has always been there. I remember as a child watching her wedding on television. I remember a very beautiful young woman, the nation’s well-loved grandmother. My deepest condolences to The Royal Family.”
The official account of the Rolling Stones also lamented the memory of the monarch. “The Rolling Stones offer their deepest condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who has been a constant presence in their lives and the lives of so many others,” the band wrote.
“She led the country through some of its strongest and darkest moments. [de notre Histoire] with elegance, decorum and a rare empathy,” Elton John wrote on Instagram. “Queen Elizabeth has been a very important part of my life since childhood, and she will be greatly missed.”
Several personalities from the world of culture paid unanimous tribute to Queen Elizabeth, including Brigitte Bardot and Franck Dubosc in France, and Reese Witherspoon, Russell Crowe, Whoopi Goldberg and Bette Midler in Hollywood. Only Liam Gallagher, the former member of Oasis, dared to tweet a negative message.
