Spotify lifts the veil on its 2022 tops. As every year, the streaming platform has shared its musical retrospective from last year in France. Once again, these classifications are largely dominated by French rap.
For the second year in a row, Jul is the most listened to artist in 2022 on Spotify in France, surpassing 5 billion streams. With Ninho and Gazo, they occupy the first three of the Swedish platform.
In the rest of the ranking, we find the Belgian Damso in fourth position, closely followed by the PNL duo, which has not yet released any new title since 2019, then by Naps, Orelsan and Tiakola.
The Weeknd ranks ninth on the podium. He is the only foreign artist to appear in this top 10. Discreet in the world of rap for several years, it is however the rapper Nekfeu who comes to close this list for 2022.
Classification still very masculine
Ninho also tops Spotify’s top hits with his song jeff. It is therefore the most listened to title in France in 2022, followed by Everything is going well d’Alonzo in collaboration with Ninho and Naps and Filtered out from rapper Timal.
On the album side, it’s Ninho, with jeffgazo with KMT and NLP with Two brothers who occupy the Spotify podium in France this year. A feat for the Corbeille-Essonne duo since this album, presented in 2019, as well as in the legend (2015), remain in the top 10 for several years after their releases.
Once again this year, Spotify’s overall rankings are made up of mostly male singers and rappers. The platform, however, has developed a special top for the most listened to female artists in 2022. In this, Angèle, Dua Lipa and Aya Nakamura share the podium.
