The Rookie: The Feds Delivered a Shocking Winter Finale Twist (Spoilers), But I’m Not Too Worried

Spoilers ahead for the fall finale of The rookie: the fedscalled “Backfire”.

The rookie: the feds its first winter finale aired and “Flashback” proved that the spinoff can deliver moments of suspense just as intense and unexpected as the parent series. The episode explored HeronPanama’s past and the loss of a woman he clearly loved years ago, while framed for espionage and arrested by the FBI in the present. went up Simon and the team to find a way to help you without too much information to proceed. Eventually, his name was cleared and he took a quiet moment to honor the deceased. Camillus…only to fall to the ground. It was a shocking twist, but I still don’t freak out!

Like the rookie: The authorities put Garza’s life in danger

“Flashback” foreshadowed the breakup minutes earlier, as he admitted he was tired of Simone, and his throat tightened before admitting that he and Camilla had been making plans for the future together and wished she was there with him. Simone had to admit there was no end to the pain, but told her that she “definitely honors her memory today.” When he had a moment alone, he said “today and every day”. That emotional note could have been the end of the episode, were it not for a cliffhanger-worthy fall finale!

Garza went to a cemetery to visit Camilla’s grave and leave her flowers, all the while remembering when he had to watch her die and take her body with bullets. The episode then seemingly decided to turn his emotional pain into literal pain as he clutched his chest and collapsed to the floor, all alone and still.

And I’ll admit it: When I first saw the scene, I was as scared as any fan of The rookie: the feds it could have been when it comes to Garza after having a pretty rough episode. With no one around to watch him pass out and call for help, it’s hard to imagine him quickly getting the help he needs if he’s had a heart attack. But it didn’t take long for the show to make me feel much better about his fate.

Because I’m not too worried about Garza

As it turns out, The rookie: the feds (which has already been harvested for an entire season ) only took thirty seconds to make me feel better about Garza’s chances of survival in the second half of season one. the return will also be half of a crossover with The noobWhat the two shows will be paired in ABC’s lineup from the 2023 TV premiere schedule .

The promo didn’t reassure me by showing Garza alive and well, but it was 30 seconds of action-packed footage that left no trace of a recent tragedy in the feds, or even have the cliffhanger resolved. If resolution were to be as important as killing off Garza, I can’t imagine the trailer wouldn’t promote it at least a little bit.

I they can Imagine him being benched and/or needing some time to recover, but the footage showing an entertaining trailer with no trace of angst left me feeling pretty optimistic about his future. Does the promotion guarantee you’ll be alive, recovering and back in the squad in no time? Surely not, and maybe I’m reading too much, but for now I’m assuming for the best. To take a look at:

Find out if I’m right to be optimistic or will I swallow my words when The rookie: the feds returns to ABC Tuesday, January 3 in its new 9:00 p.m. ET timeslot. To follow The noob traveling at 8:00 PM ET the following Tuesday Nathan Fillionthe live series spent the first half of its fall season on the TV show 2022 broadcast on Sundays.
