Chicago Fire Chiefs Present Severide & Stella Face Fall Finale Fallout, Plus BTS Watch Taylor Kinney’s Dizzying Stunt

chicago fire is set to return to NBC with the end of autumn after a short hiatus, and longtime fans know it Stoplight Endgames tend to be very high-stakes. In the Season 11 episode that airs Dec. 7, the stakes will literally be very high for Severide, as well as the consequences he and Stella will face for their actions. Showrunners Andrea Newman and Derek Haas opened up to Gossipify about what’s in store for the two lieutenants, while BTS’ look at Taylor Kinney’s massive stunt shows what the star is capable of after ten full seasons and counting.

The fall finale will be called “Nemesis” and Severide will find himself in a different kind of danger than usual. Behind-the-scenes drone footage (seen above) shows Taylor Kinney in an elevator at a very steep angle, more than 150 feet in the air. The actor also did most of the stunts himself. The image of the Chicago skyline in the background, on top of everything else, suggests that this is one sequence viewers won’t want to miss.

Of course, Severide’s abilities as a squad lieutenant that allow him to do things like grab onto the end of a bridge don’t apply to her situation with the CPD and Detective Pryma following him and Stella near-death experience on their wedding night . when I spoke to him chicago fire the showrunners, shared how the situation hanging so heavily over Severide will affect the fall finale. AndreaNewmann said:

I’d say this case haunts him, and it really does haunt him when we get into it [Episode] 9, and he will take action and take over the story, and it will have bad repercussions. You will endanger the inhabitants of 51 if you act.

Acting is definitely part of Severide’s character, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to pay off in the situation with Pryma, the crooked cop, and the whole mess of criminals who haven’t been caught yet. Will she endanger her fellow 51 heroes with a single call, or in what should be a safe situation, like when the bad guys raided her wedding night? Derek Haas clarified:

This ties into last season’s finale, where he wasn’t attached to just work. They came on his wedding night and a cop let these guys know where he was. It’s something that, you know, almost killed his wife, and it’s going to make Severide’s hair stand on end at any minute. And he’s ready to punch someone.

Typically, Severide is more likely to break up a fight on a call than to “hit someone up,” so he’s obviously at his breaking point in the fall finale. Only time will tell what the consequences will be (and whether or not we’ll have to wait for the winter premiere in TV show 2023 aftermath), but it seems safe to say that there will be ups and downs for Taylor Kinney’s character before the end of 2022.

And you may not be the only one! Stella Kidd had a tough time as a lieutenant in season 11 when it came to Carver, who she didn’t want to bring to Truck 81, as well as all the usual stressors of the job. Of course, she has overcome all the challenges so far. When asked if her leadership skills would be tested again, Andrea Newman teased:

They are absolutely tested in episode 9. As you said, she rises to the occasion and we’ve really seen her grow as a leader, and she has to make an incredibly difficult decision in this episode. She who she will take with her and put them in danger, and she has to make that decision, and then she has to deal with the actions that happen once she does.

Whatever the decision, it looks like it could be far riskier than whatever he had to do to lead his team into Season 11! Truck 81 is made up of many capable firefighters, and whoever chooses to follow her into danger could make all the difference. Derek Haas shared his thoughts on Stella’s leadership and the upcoming spin-off:

What we love about writing about real-life firefighters is that each of them will volunteer for the most dangerous job, if ever, with a Chicago firefighter, and we’d love to see that dynamic in the show. But it’s the executives who have to make the decision and live with the consequences as we’ve seen for 11 seasons. It doesn’t always work. This is one of those situations where the ultimate test of your leadership is holding someone’s life in your hand.
