Guillermo Del Toro wants to clear up a misunderstanding about James Cameron’s role in his father’s kidnapping

There are so many crazy true stories about director James Cameron that it’s pointless to embellish a false one. For example, Cameron actually pitched his sequel to Sir Ridley Scott’s film. When my father was kidnapped… there is incorrect information, who paid the ransom. He doesn’t, we do. But he paid the negotiator. He paid the negotiator and we (Cameron) paid him back shortly after. Because it was a very, very painful situation. And he came in and took over. He said, “The hostage negotiator will be at your house in 72 hours to help you with the process.” He did it all by himself. And we didn’t ask, he offered. And he offered himself, he said, ‘I’ll pay the ransom.’ He volunteered. He is that kind of person. He is incredibly loyal. Incredibly strong.

We all need a friend like James Cameron by our side. It sure helps that “King of the World” Cameron has Titanic silver since 1997, this Oscar winner is one of Top 10 highest grossing films of all time. .
