The FBI BAU team is back Criminal Minds: Evolutionwhich is now streaming with a Paramount+ subscription, though not everyone is back for the revivals, including longtime top leader Matthew Gray Gubler. Viewers have definitely missed seeing Reid’s locks on the small screen, and his former co-star AJ Cook is clearly missing it too.
Even though it was explained why Dr. Spencer Reid was absent from the BAU in the spin-off of the broadcast (he and Daniel Henney’s Matt Simmons dated for another matter), Matthew Gray Gubler just felt it was time to stop. play the genius of the profile. when the show was canceled by CBS. He’s no doubt very busy in his spare time, having recently taken to Instagram to show off his already out-of-print ‘Huggable Rumple’ soft toy that accompanies his children’s book. Unsurprisingly, AJ Cook is missing Matthew Gray Gubler, as Cook’s JJ and Gubler’s Reid were closer than ever in the CBS proceedings, and Reid was even godfather to JJ’s children. Fans have always expected the fictional analysts to reunite, but that wasn’t expected, with JJ’s husband Will also in the mix for the revival.
The actors’ relationship resonated off-screen as well. same with the original Criminal minds After breaking up more than two years ago, they are still close, even though it has been some time since they met. Hopefully Cook can set up a cross-promotional action with this Huggable Rumple showing up at BAU HQ.
AJ Cook isn’t the only one Criminal minds star who also shows her love for Matthew Gray Gubler. Aisha Tyler, who plays Tara Lewis, also commented on MGG’s Insta post. It was a short but sweet message that still showed how much love she still had for him:

Cook and Tyler are back for Paramount+ Criminal Minds: Evolution, as are most of the cast, but the ones missing from season 16 are definitely lost. I wonder if Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney could still appear on the show in the future, like it’s renewed for another season. For now, we’ll just have to wait for updates on what Reid and Simmons are up to, and look forward to more fluid interactions between the cast.

Even without Dr. Spencer Reid or the doe-eyed bananas, the prolific minds at the BAU still fare pretty well. With Criminal Minds: Evolution face a suspect all season played by Midnight snack star Zach Gilford, the new season is creepier than ever. Although the team has two fewer agents than last season on the TV show, the small screen once again seemed like a safer place with everyone back in action.
