Cannon fire rang out across the UK on Friday. At 2:00 p.m. (French time), one hour after the minute of silence to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II after her queen, 96 shots were fired in her honor.
They were filmed from London, in Hyde Park and the Tower of London. Other cities in the United Kingdom such as York, Colchester, but also Belfast in Northern Ireland, Cardiff in Wales or Edinburgh in Scotland also celebrated this tribute. Cannon shots were even fired from naval bases, the archaeological site of Stonehenge or the enclave of Gibraltar on the Iberian Peninsula.
Each stroke represents a year in the life of Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96. After her accession to the throne at the age of 27, her reign lasted 70 years, one of the longest in history.
