This is a blow to DC fans. On Wednesday, actor Henry Cavill posted a message on Instagram announcing that he will finally not reprise his role as Superman in the next film in the franchise.
The 39-year-old actor explains in his message that this decision was made during a meeting with filmmaker James Gunn and film producer Peter Safran, who were named co-chairmen and general managers of DC Studios in October.
“In the end, I will not return to the role of Superman. This decision is not the easiest to live, but that’s life, ”he specifies on Instagram.
And to add: “Putting on the cape is over for me, but what Superman represents will never be. It’s been a fun ride with all of you.”
