Tom Cruise has proven time and time again that he will do anything for our entertainment, whether it’s climbing the side of the tallest building in the world or flying jets at extreme speeds. Knowing this story, it should really come as no surprise to see how the beloved actor thanked fans for the success of Top Gun: nonconformist and spreading holiday cheer: by jumping out of an airplane.

A few hours ago, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie posted a special message on social media announcing it Mission: Impossible – Judgment Dead Part 2 was going on vacation, but before production wrapped, the film crew and the lead star found time for some fun…and by “fun” I mean they found time for the film, one of the rare multi-worlds movies. Top-notch celebrity of the decade to perform a death-defying stunt.
Not only is it amazing that Tom Cruise pulls off this stunt, it’s also amazing that he pulls it off with so much joy. The man leaps out of an airplane with the same nonchalant attention I have when I enter my front door. I think it’s fair to say that most of the 8 billion people on this planet wouldn’t even remotely consider engaging in such an activity, and they do so with a resting heart rate.
Of course, one of the things that definitely contributes to his Zen state is the fact that he’s done far scarier things throughout his career. Earlier I mentioned climbing the Burj Khalifa Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and take to the sky Top Gun: nonconformistbut Cruise has also grabbed onto the side of a plane during takeoff and, more recently, ridden a dirt bike off a cliff (aka the iconic stunt featured in the trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, part 1).
Talking about the next chapter of Mission ImpossibleThe franchise, Christopher McQuarrie’s film, should arrive in less than seven months. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, part 1 features an outstanding cast that includes Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, Frederick Schmidt, Henry Czerny, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigam and Haley Atwell. It is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of 2023.
If you need a dose of cruise action before then, you can sign up for Paramount + Now and wait for the arrival of Top Gun: nonconformist on the streaming service starting December 22.
