December is a great month for movie buffs. Not only is it a month where the best movies and blockbusters are released on a regular basis, but it’s also a time where we can witness some exciting trailers for the biggest titles hitting theaters next year. As you have already done with Dunkirk, Nolan dives into the history books with his latest film, and this time it tells the story of one of the leading scientists who created the atomic bomb. Cillian Murphy, who previously worked with the director on Dunkirk in addition to the Dark Knight trilogy, he plays the namesake J. Robert Oppenheimer, and is surrounded in the film by incredible acting talent. the expansive openheimer The cast also includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, David Krumholtz, Gary Oldman, Kenneth Branagh, Rami Malek, Alden Ehrenreich and others.
What’s interesting about this trailer is that while fans get to see Jack Quaid, Josh Hartnett, and Matt Damon, the trailer doesn’t focus on all of the stars. Instead, it focuses much more on Oppenheimer’s introduction than Cillian Murphy and shows absolutely gorgeous close-ups of fiery explosions.
The film marks Christopher Nolan’s fourth collaboration with cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema and may end up being his most striking work yet. Their joint work in Dunkirk has already seen Van Hoytema earn an Oscar nomination, but perhaps 2024 will be the year he picks up the trophy for openheimer.
As exciting as it is to get a first look at Christopher Nolan’s latest installment, one of the downsides of December trailers is that they sometimes tend to make waiting times longer for the titles they feature. This is one of those cases. openheimer it’s not a winter or spring release, but one of the big features of summer 2023. The historic epic hits theaters the same day as Greta Gerwig’s. Written for the screen by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is based on the book American Prometheus: Triumph and Tragedy by J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin (opens in a new tab), and the director teased the use of impressive practical effects. There are many exciting movies coming in 2023 but this has to be one of the most anticipated.
