Six years that Damso’s public waited for the release of this single. After the transmission of a first excerpt in 2016 and an aborted launch attempt in 2021, the track Pirate heart It was finally unveiled in its entirety by the rapper this Sunday.

In 2016, while his second album ipseity is preparing to go on sale, Damso is already recording new songs. To give his followers a taste of his work, the Belgian artist films himself in the studio for his Instagram account.
In the background, the audience discovers for the first time a short excerpt from Pirate heart, his new track produced by beatmaker Twinsmatic. Very quickly the reactions are unanimous. “Well Damso comes out when this little buzzes in there”, “I’m waiting for this title as much as my pay!!”, “Already my favorite piece”, netizens tweeted shortly after the video was posted.
Meanwhile, the rapper presents his album in 2018 lithopedion. If the success of this album somehow eclipses the expectation around Pirate heartsome fans persist and keep asking the rapper to release a song, to no avail.
False hope
But when the fans did not dare to wait any longer, Damso mentions again Pirate heart in 2021 in a first episode of The Vie Radio, a monthly show he created for Apple Music.
“If people really want it, I go back to the studio and put it down and release it,” he said at the time.
At the time, the specialized rap media advanced a release for December 25 of the same year. On Instagram, Damso assures next to him that the piece is finished. However, on the fateful day, nothing happens. Without explanation from Damso and his management, the departure of Pirate heart is aborted and no postponement is announced, leaving fans again in the dark.

Just a year later, Damso came out of silence. On November 20, 2022, during a concert at the Zénith de Rouen, the Belgian rapper appears on stage wearing an explicit T-shirt that reads: “Coeur de pirate comes out on the 18th.”
In the process, the artist also asks his community on social networks to imagine the official cover of this title in less than 24 hours, which becomes more and more concrete for fans.

For its title, the artist made the wise decision not to change anything from the original instrumental signed by Twinsmatic and simply expanded on what he had started in 2016. In the clip, the rapper also kept the excerpt from the video he had shot at the time, as a nod to the fans of the first hour who knew how to be patient for six years.
